DONE!!!

Maths isn't my strong point

working out the spacing was so confusing!!!

Eventually i got there... and doing the first line was confusing! but the feeling when i got to the end of that line was one to be remebered... and repeated 17 times.

4 painstaking days later after labelling, sticking, cutting, scalpelling and measuring I got there

Slide Mounting

I looked into all different mounts that I could mount my slides, but after all the options open to me i decided that white card was the best option. Because i didn't want anything too fussy, also I wanted to print onto the slides the file name of each image to show that they have come from digital pictures, and it keeps the pictures annonomous.

I bought 300 white carboard slide mounts... they were very hard to get hold of, but I eventually found a company called Process Supplies.

Then I found a special paper called Transtext which i could print onto and stick onto each slide mount, its not visible unless you look very closely.

Below is an example of my templates I had to cut out... I could get about 30 to a page, and the file names.

My messy 'creative' workspace

Ordering the slides

I found a company called Digital Slides who convert digital files into slides. He sent me a couple of examples because I was nervous they wouldn't be right, but when I recieved them they were perfect!

after recieving these I uploaded 200 to the website and they arrived 2 days later in one long reel...

Slides on the Lightbox...

I bought some old slides off of ebay so I could start playing around with composition and get a more accurate feel for what it should look like... i was surprised at how beautiful they looked... pictures don't do it justice

Lightbox!!

I'v been bidding for a lightbox on e-bay which I managed to win at £56.50 (bargain) which was fantastic! Its an A1 lightbox which I ventured to Southampton to collect. In the pictures some of it looks a bit worn but when I got it it's in perfect condition!! It's daylight balanced, and the only thing that needs to be changed slightly is the little metal bits that keep the acrylic in place. No problems there!

This is the 1st lightbox I've owned so i didn't know too much about them, but having looked into them and looked at advertising boards I decided that this was the best option to go for. The light is evenly spread and the light is edge to edge rather than having a frame around it.

Slides...

sliiiides

I have decided that all the pictures i have recieved i will be converting them all back to 35mm slides.
I have decided to display them in this format because today with sites like facebook and Flicker photos seem to be less appreciated, and people take pictures and discard them as readily as they took them. By reverting them back to this methopd the viewer will have to go up close to look at each individual shot.

It also makes the photos that arent that great quality look fantastic. My original idea was to make a book... but I felt this was too standard and would just be another 'picture book' and nothing very rememberable or exciting.

Below are some old slides of my dads to show an example...

12th May Photos Flooding In...

These are an example of some of the pictures I got... so far I have recieved about 180 but I expect more as some people have not yet uploaded them or sent them to me...

It was a good turn out.. I was nervous at the time but it all came together nicely!
