Don't Panic
After contacting Don't Panic, they have very kindly agreed to put my flyers in 5000 of their packs that are sent across London to Universities and clubs and bars, they have also agreed to put a banner on their website the week leading up to Monday May 12th!!
This is fantastic news! it will enable me to reach far more people than though imaginable at this stage!

Other Packaging Ideas
This is my final send out... simple was the best... looks eyecatching. the ribbon can be taken off.. and there is an envelope with a mini flyer in it, and postage costs to send it back to me..

The other idea for packaging my cameras was random and didn't fit with the project (not sure what i was thinking?!) ... so I'm just considering other options at the moment...

In the meantime...
Designing the Website
I have been designing the website over the past 1 or 2 days... and i have gone through a range of different ideas so far.
keeping it basic is what I'm wanting as it is purely an informational website for people to refer too... but it's looking a bit like a website for a pone company at the moment!

taking a different approach...

My Project is based on the book in the previous post...
I am going to arrange as many people in London as possible to take a picture on a certain minute as possible. I'm showing how technology has changed, by the fact that anyone can take part in this project, due to digital cameras and camera phones and I'm testing the powers of advertising
This will include advertising the project live, using different methods of advertising such as a website, social networking sites such as Facebook, flyers, billboards, sending out cameras if possible to different companies. Any form of advertising i can think of I will try!
I have decided that I will call this project A London Minute. And that the event will take place on the 12th May 2008 at 12.00pm. This is a feasible goal to contact as many people as I can and then produce the outcome whatever it may be once I have all my pictures.
I've figured that my first step will be to design and build a website... so that i have a point of reference for companies and people to look at.
So first things first I have bought the domain name www.alondonminute.co.uk!!

Initial Beginnings of an Idea
My initial beginnings of an idea came from this book....

It's a book which was published 25years ago called A Day in The Life of London. It was a project set up by two london photographers, called Syd Shelton and Red Saunders. They arranged 100 of the worlds best photographers to fly into london over a 24 hour period to take photos all over london. they then picked the best of these pictures and published them in this book...

I wanted to get in touch with these two photographers... but after hours of searching on the internet i had no luck... one of them has passed on, and the other seems untraceable.
I wanted to talk to them about the project they set up and ask questions about it. also to see if they would like to back me up in making a newer version of the book... but instead of using proffesional photographers use the general public...
With not being able to find the photographers I decided that I would write to the publishers instead...

Unfortunately the reply I got was that they couldn't even locate the book

With no luck in getting hold of the originators of the book i've decided that steaming ahead with this by myself is what i'm going to do!
